Hello everybody, 

I am Miss Amy! I started Lets Act in Doncaster 14 years ago then Clapham 6 years ago! Professionally I was lucky to gain representation with Mark Jermin (the agency I use for the Let’s Act children) when I was younger and IAG as an adult. I have appeared in commercials for Microsoft, Garnier and Bet Victor.
I am a qualified speech teacher having gained my Licentiate Qualification from Trinity London (LTCL) in teaching Speech and drama. During this time, I specialised in American Texts, Stanislavsky Technique, Building Confidence through Speech and Teaching Children with Communication Issues. I also studied in depth the work of Viola Spolin, many of her improvisation techniques we use in class to build the children’s confidence. 

I LOVE Lets Act because it is a place where everyone can just be themselves and have fun!

Hello everybody,

I am Mrs Ruth! I have been teaching drama at Lets Act Drama School in Doncaster for 5 years and I love it! I first gained a love for drama and performing arts at school and my first performances include Oliver, The Wiz, Much Ado about nothing and Taming of the Shrew.

At University I gained a first BA honours Degree in Contemporary performance practise, I worked on developing my acting skills such as stage combat, mask work, physical theatre, clowning, characterisation techniques, script analysis and choral work. After university I worked alongside Children’s University which showed me my passion for teaching and working with children. I then became a qualified drama teacher with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education Ofsted Grade 1.

I have worked in several secondary schools in South Yorkshire learning and developing my teacher training to the highest standard, however Lets Act is where I truly enjoy teaching as I get to work with passionate hardworking children every day!

Hi, my name is Hayley.

I first started performing when I was 8 years old at a local stage school where Miss Amy also trained. I went on to perform in a number of shows such as Into The Woods and Pinafore Pirates and doing exams in both LAMDA and LCM where I gained my Grade 8 in Acting and Musical Theatre.

I went on to get a BA (Hons) degree in Musical Theatre where, in my third year, I started working at Lets Act and doing private singing lessons and the rest is history.

Since starting private singing lessons 6 years ago, I have obtained a 100% pass rate with all students gaining a distinction or merit.

I love Lets Act because it is a place where I feel completely at ease. With the family atmosphere and support from the team, it makes it so easy to teach and most importantly, love the job that I am doing.

Hello everybody,

I first started performing when I was just 7 years old and haven’t stopped since.

I started acting classes with Miss Amy when she first started out teaching as a way to build my confidence and I completely fell in love with it. Under Miss Amy’s guidance I took every LAMDA exam from Entry to Gold Medal, I was also fortunate enough to gain a place at the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain in 2012 and I am still involved with them now. I also attended Fourth Monkey Theatre Company for two years where I got to work with some amazing practitioners and directors and perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

I then attended Identity School of acting and was lucky enough to gain representation with their agency IAG. Currently, I am auditioning for professional work and I sing professionally. I am a qualified speech teacher having gained my Qualification from Trinity London (ATCL) in teaching Speech and drama. During this time, I specialised in Greek and modern Texts, Stanislavski Technique, and improvisation techniques.

Let’s Act has always been such a huge part of my life and has given me so much happiness in my life and I’m thrilled that I can now pass that on to the children.

Biggest achievement at Lets Act: Seeing some of the children I teach move on to further training to develop their craft at such great institutions such as the National Youth Theatre.

Biggest achievement outside of Lets Act: Stepping out of my comfort zone and competing in CrossFit competitions with my fabulous friends. It’s so important to continually push yourself.

One thing you would like the children to take away from Lets Act: How to work hard as a team for one end goal and enjoy the success together knowing they gave their all. As they say, teamwork makes the dream work.

Hello everybody, 

I am Miss Emma!  I attended Lets Act at the age of 16, and I am now back teaching which I am over the moon about! I started teaching at Lets Act at the start of this year and I am loving every second. 

I trained at the University of Central Lancashire in Musical Theatre, where I got endless amounts of opportunities to work in different parts of the industry. This included performing in a London showcase that took place at a West End theatre and being a part of the UCLan Chamber Choir where I got to tour France singing choral music. 

I LOVE Lets Act because it is such a fun place to be and everyone is amazingly talented.

One thing you would like the children to take away from Let’s Act: Don’t compare yourself to others. You are amazing because you are YOU. Don’t change for anyone.  

Ey up! I'm Sophie - I teach singing as part of the London team.
I'm originally from Yorkshire and trained at Lets Act as a child. Miss Amy guided me through all of my LAMDA exams, gaining a distinction at every grade. I also obtained Grade 8 qualifications for the Violin, Musical Theatre and Classical Singing.

I've always loved performing in any shape or form, but singing has always been my main interest. I really like geeking out over different methods and techniques and always have done - focusing on Opera, Classical Singing and Musical Theatre.

At the age of 13 I gained a place in the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, progressing to their Main Choir/Chamber Choir at 18. With NYCGB I have had fantastic experiences, such as singing in the BBC Proms, touring China and performing in numerous concerts at the Royal Albert Hall.

I started gaining teaching experience when I was 16 by assisting my singing teacher at his stage school in Sheffield, and I began teaching for Lets Act at 18 when I moved to the south to train at a drama school called the Guildford School of Acting. I am currently in my final year at GSA on their BA Actor-Musician course, where I received a scholarship award in my first year. My course buddies and I are about to transfer one of our third year productions to the Charing Cross Theatre in London's West End - we're so excited!! (And rather terrified).

In my spare time you'll either find me teaching myself new instruments (I'm currently attempting the Viola, Banjo and Tin Whistle) and doing anything and everything with my lovely bunch of friends. Tea drinking is also a major part of my life - Yorkshire Tea all the way, obviously.

Miss Amy and Lets Act have given me so much and I'm incredibly grateful to have been a part of this amazing family for so long. I don't know where I'd be or what I'd be doing without this school! I'm constantly inspired by the talent and enthusiasm of the children we teach and I feel very fortunate to get to watch them grow as performers and as people.

Hello everybody, 

My name is Miss Amy and I am one of the dance teachers. I have just finished my first year teaching at Lets Act, which has been wonderful!

I am currently studying a full time MA in professional acting at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts and will be graduating in December. 

I am passionate about children expressing themselves and exploring their creativity. I love watching children discover new styles of dance and making their own choreography and moves. It was something I always loved doing as a child in dance classes.

THE BREAKDOWN

Training: As a child I trained in lots of different dance styles and did examinations and competitions in classical ballet, jazz, contemporary, street and cheerleading! I am now currently studying an MA at Drama School, so it is never too late to follow your dreams!

Favourite musical: Chicago! It was the first musical I saw in the West End and the dancing is just amazing.

Favourite animal: Dolphins.

Favourite children’s book: George’s Marvelous Medicine, it was the first book I remember reading by myself. 

Favourite food: Mexican Food is my fav!

Favourite Disney song: Part of Your World from the Little Mermaid.

Biggest achievement at Lets Act: The best part of working at Lets Act so far was during the final shows. Noticing how far everyone has progressed was a very proud moment!

Biggest achievement outside of Lets Act: Working in El Salvador teaching dance and drama to children who had been affected by gang culture and violence. The power of the arts can be really amazing, especially when there is a language barrier. 

One thing you would like the children to take away from Lets Act: To have confidence in themselves and their abilities. 

Hello everybody, 

My name is Eliza, I am a singing teacher at Lets Act on a Saturday and in the week too. I have been teaching Singing and Acting for about 3 years, and really love it. Teaching at Lets Act is brilliant. 

As well as teaching, I am an actress. Since leaving drama school, I’ve worked mainly in theatre including musicals and plays such as ‘2 Become 1’ at The Kings Head Theatre/Tour- ing, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ at The East Riding Theatre, ‘Tainted the Musical’ at The Vaults. 

I love teaching singing, it’s amazing seeing children surprise themselves when they hit a note they didn’t think they could, or sing a song in front of an audience. I am a trainer singing and I would say my speciality is vocal technique, and helping the kids with acting through song which is a very important part of singing, especially in Musical Theatre. 

THE BREAKDOWN 

Training: It’s Very important for me to mention that the head of Let’s Act MISS AMY was my first ever drama teacher in Doncaster (which was amazing!!) I then moved to London and attended the Ju- nior school at The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre arts from the age of 14-16 and then continued on to do the 3 year Musical Theatre Diploma there, where I trained in Acting, Singing and Dance. 

Favourite musical: I love Les Miserables but recently have become obsessed with WAITRESS 

Favourite animal:DOGS! 

Favourite children’s book: I loved ‘The Tiger who came to Tea’ 

Favourite food: Spaghetti Bolognese or Chinese 

Favourite Disney song: Colors of the wind from Pocahontas 

Biggest achievement at Lets Act: After only a week at Summer Camp, watching my class perform ‘The Little Mermaid’ to an audience. I was so proud of them and they were so happy when they got a big round of applause from everyone at the end. 

Biggest achievement outside of Lets Act: I loved playing Mary in ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’. It’s a film I love and it was lovely to portray that story. 

One thing you would like the children to take away from Lets Act: That with Confidence and Self Belief, you can do anything!

Hello everybody, 

My name is Miss Marina and I am the LAMDA and Musical Theatre Saturday teacher at Lets Act. This is my first year as a regular teacher at Lets Act and am very excited to get started. 

As well as teaching, I am also an Actor and Musician, working mainly in Musical Theatre. Recent work I have done includes the UK tour of ‘Its Different For Girls’, and ‘The Three Kingdoms’ at East Riding Theatre. 

I am really happy to be teaching at Lets Act, as I am passionate about helping the kids to find their confidence through performing, and realise their potential.
